Unfortunately, on the 1st December 2022 I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Considering that I had no family history and I had not been unwell it came as a huge shock. Thankfully, I regularly checked myself and so found the lump early and my treatment has been classed as curative. That being said, when I eventually complete my treatment I will have had 12 months of four different types of chemotherapy, 12 months of immunotherapy, breast surgery and a month of radiotherapy. Alongside all of these, I have had huge amounts of tests and appointments but the care and support I have received throughout has been incredible.
Therefore, I wanted to find a way to give back, and so I have organised a charity quiz night with two course meal and a charity raffle on 12th October at Kesgrave War Memorial Community Centre. All the money raised will be split equally between the Woolverstone Day Unit at Ipswich hospital where they treat cancer patients and Little Lifts who are a Breast Cancer charity. It is shaping up to be a wonderful evening and we have some amazing prizes on offer, including a day trip on a yacht for four people with lunch along the River Orwell, family photoshoot, £100 Amazon voucher, a doughnut or pizza making course for two people with the Two Magpies and many many more. I would love to raise as much money as possible and would therefore love to see you there! £40pp for your entry to the event, two course meal (catered by Jamie Lee Smith) and a raffle ticket. Quiz teams up to six people and additional raffle tickets are also available at £5.
Additionally, if you don’t already check yourself and know your normal, please think about changing this. If I hadn’t checked myself regularly and found my lump early my story could be very different. A guide on how to do this attached below.
