Pupils in Classes 15 and 16 visited The Norfolk Showground in March for a Careers Fayre. They saw lots of exhibitors including the NHS, Fire Service, different construction companies, the farming sector and a range of colleges that may be of interest to pupils beyond time at Warren School. Pupils were able to ask questions, find out information, and come away with a few freebies. It was a very informative and fun day.

Silver DofE Practice Expedition Fun! Our students had an amazing time on their Duke of Edinburgh Silver Practice Expedition, and what a day it was! The sun was shining, spirits were high, and everyone was fully engaged from start to finish. Limits were definitely pushed on the walk through the forest, with students showing real teamwork, determination, and resilience along the way. A special highlight was seeing our wheelchair students enjoying rides on the mobility bikes, big smiles all round and plenty of joy to share! The adventure didn't stop there. Students got hands-on with tent pitching, working together to master this essential expedition skill, before cooking their own dinner on the BBQ. Great food, great company, and a great sense of achievement! Everyone had a fantastic time and showed exactly what the DofE is all about – challenge, confidence, and unforgettable experiences. We're so proud of them and can't wait for the next step on their Silver journey! We are looking forward to doing our Bronze Expedition next month and our Silver Qualifying in June... It's certainly all go, go, go here!

Yesterday, three of our children attended the Trust final of the Ogden Trust Science Competition at Southwold Primary School with Mrs Waters, and we are incredibly proud to share that Charlie was the overall winner out of all 14 school settings – an amazing achievement! The competition was launched at Winterton a few months ago, challenging children to create a model demonstrating their understanding of gears, levers and pulleys. We were blown away by both the number and quality of entries – the creativity, craftsmanship and scientific knowledge on display were fantastic! Last month, we held a parent assembly where all entrants had the opportunity to showcase their models, and finalists from Seals and Sharks classes were selected as our Winterton winners. Brothers Jack and Charlie were chosen from Shark Class for their incredible LEGO model train station, complete with moving trains powered by a pulley system. Charlie was also selected from Seal Class for his brilliant cardboard car garage, featuring a pulley lift, ramps and a geared turntable. At the final, all the boys were a real credit to our school. They spoke with pride and confidence about their models and showed great interest in the work of others. Jack and Charlie placed fourth with their LEGO model, and Charlie was crowned overall winner for his car garage – a fantastic result! All participants received a book, and Charlie also won the grand prize of a K'NEX set. Well done to all involved – we are so proud of you!

Pupils from across the Consortium Trust met at Southwold Primary school yesterday, led by Sam Norfolk (Science Lead), to celebrate the final of the 'Gears. levers and pulleys' physics competition. It showcased some of the most talented and enthusiastic physics students from across the trust, and their shared passion for scientific discovery. The finalists were chosen from each school with Devon's entry being picked for Mendham. Mrs Thomas (Director of Primary Education) judged the final which was a difficult decision! Congratulations to the winner of the competition, Charlie from Winterton Primary school. Everyone who entered should be extremely proud of their efforts and contribution

Spruce class is enjoying visiting Yoxford and taking part in shared Scout sessions. The children all worked well together to discuss how to keep our school grounds tidy and then demonstrated great teamwork when picking up litter. In Art, we have started a unit on drawing, and we enjoyed exploring different sketching pencils to find out how they can be used to create a range of effects.

This week all of Waveney Valley Partnership enjoyed a visit from James Campbell. Each class took part in a workshop with the author and there was non-stop laughter throughout the day. James shared with the children his experience of being a writer and some behind the scenes knowledge of how he created his fabulous books. None of this would have been possible without the support of our wonderful FOMSA and HPTA who contributed towards the cost of the visit. Thank you, you have inspired a future generation of authors.

We have had a lovely week in the owl room. Our children have been making " long wavy grass" pictures from our bear hunt story. We have been practicing our phonics, focusing on the letter "S" sound. We played " silly soup", and got a giant piece of paper where the children played a drawing game where they had to copy the letter S and point to things that Zoey had drawn beginning with an S. The weather has been lovely so we have had lots of fun playing Hopscotch, incorporating our number recognition and counting skills, and hopping and jumping skills.

We have had a really busy first week back after our Easter holidays. The children in the Owl room have started our new book "we're going on a bear hunt" the children have been retelling the story with our tough tray. During our phonic session this week we introduced the children to the sound "s" the children have taken part in "silly soup" sessions when each child takes out an item from the bag which begins with an s they then have to say what it is with emphasis on the "sssss"sound. We were very fortunate to have been donated an amazing woodwork bench and tools for our role play area, the children have loved exploring this resource pretending to go around fixing things. The children have been practicing their fine motor skills with the pegs and peg boards, making some beautiful patterns with the pegs. We also reopened our grass area and the children were able to use our new slide and climbing apparatus which they were very excited about.

Kirkley Nursery
This week we had our Squirrels return after their Easter Break. All of our children have settled back into the nursery routine with ease and we have had a lot of smiles and laughter On Monday we started our new core text ' Oh Dear' and have been exploring activities surrounding the farm and animals who live on the farm. This week the outside environment was extra exciting. The grass has been opened and our new climbing apparatus has been built. The children loved learning how to climb with care and had fun coming down the slide! We have been enjoying the lovely sunshine! Very positive first week of the Summer Term

Kirkley Nursery
Welcome back Hedgehogs! We have had a lovely first week after the Easter holidays all together and have started to look at our new core text, 'Oh Dear!' The Hedgehogs have been very creative this week, painting pictures of the animals from the story, completing puzzles, feeding the animals a variety of cereals as well as all of them all being keen to read the book! It has been lovely to see how even after only reading the story for a week, how many of the Hedgehogs have already progressed with their language development and recognising the patterns seen in the story. We are proud of them all everyday!

Our very busy and successful spring term ended with an amazing morning at The Royal Hospital School taking part in the IPSSA Cross Country event. Our year 4 runners took part in a 1500m race and for our year 5/6 runners, it was 2200m. This event is an amazing opportunity for the children to test their resilience, try something new and prove to themselves what they are capable of. It is made all the lot better getting to see all of the 46 children who attended; support, cheer and celebrate their own as well as each other's achievements. While we had several children beat their personal best from last year, we also had our fair share finish around the top 20 out of 150+children in each race. The achievements don't stop there. Our year 4 girls really set the tone when Primrose (1st), Aggie(3rd) and Violet(5th) blew us all away as they came storming down the final straight towards the finish line. Having had the results back this week we have now learnt that their team (Primrose, Aggie, Violet and Gracie) came in 1st place out of 36 teams in the year 4 girl's race! This is the first time at Rendlesham Primary School we have had a team win their event at cross country. The whole school is so proud, well done girls - your trophy will be on its way soon! We also had some more superb individual results from three children who have had an incredible cross country journey at Rendlesham Primary School. In their final cross country event of year 6: Joshua finished in 6th place out of 180 running in one of the toughest races of the day. Layla-Rose came emerging from the fields in the distance and kept up her incredible pace to earn herself 2nd place and a silver medal. Elodie then followed shortly after and put on a finishing masterclass to secure herself 10th place in the same race which again, had 180 runners in. Our superstar year 6 runners, supported by the rest of their team, also had some brilliant team results. Josh, Daniel, Robin and Oliver combined to come in 4th place out of 46 teams and Layla-Rose, Elodie, Ellie and Lalia also combined to finish in 3rd place out of 42 teams. This was by far our most successful event from a team results perspective, and we are very proud of everyone who took part. Cross country runners, you are AMAZING!

Rendlesham Primary School
In the second half of the spring term, a group of Year 6 children took a visit to Crown Pools in Ipswich to take part in a swimming gala against schools from all over Suffolk. Our team were outstanding and came 5th, narrowly missing out on a top 3 finish, out of 13 schools. A special mention for: Joshua and Layla-Rose for coming 1st in their 25m freestyle races, Elodie for coming 2nd in the 25m backstroke, Grace for coming 3rd in the 25m breaststroke and Olivia for coming 3rd in the 25m freestyle. The girls also did incredibly well, earning two second place finishes in both the 4x 25m freestyle and medley relay. To start off the final week of the spring term, a team of year 5 and 6 girls took part in the U11s Futsal event. The girls took part in 4 games across the afternoon and showed incredible teamwork. They lead from the back with Elsie and Avelia while Lalia and Aubrey showed great desire to put the other team under pressure. Goals then came from Elodie, Matilda and Ellie (who scored 5)! This teamwork meant the girls bounced back after losing the first two games but won their third and drew their last. Great work girls!

Congratulations to our children who achieved Learning Characteristic of the Week and Citizen of the Week certificates. In Thursday's Assembly, Mrs Waters presented these certificates to children, who have been chosen by their class teacher, for either excellent progress in a particular subject or for displaying one of our Learning Characteristics. During this assembly, we also celebrated good attendance and sporting achievements. Well done everyone!

Part 2 The 3 and 4 children spent the first half term learning and practising basketball skills in P.E before also attending a basketball event. The U9s Basketball Festival gave the children the opportunity to practise their skills in activities lead by year 12 students. Afterwards, they got to play some mini matches against the other schools. The children showed off their skills excellently and displayed great competitive spirit in their matches, winning 1, drawing 1 and losing 1. The second half of the Spring term started with Mr Gooding taking some of his girl's football club attendees to an U8s Girl's Football Festival. Some of these children also then attended an U10s version the following week. The girls showed great progression throughout these events. Their hard work scoring goals, blocking shots and tackling the other team was rewarded as not only did they win some games, they were also lucky enough to meet some of the Ipswich Town Women's players!

Rendlesham Primary School
Last term was another one full of sporting events and achievements, from Sportshall Athletics back in January to Cross Country in the last week of term. Children from year 2 - 6 have taken part in a variety of different events. In February a team of year 5 and 6 children attended a basketball tournament and for most, it was their first time playing basketball in a competitive event. The format allows the boys in the team to play the first half and the girls then play the second with the points accumulating throughout. After showing great teamwork and resilience across the 5 matches, we finally put together two excellent halves topped off by a superb winning shot from Harrison. This shot as well as points from Jemima, Josh and Daniel lead the team to an 8-6 victory.
